Here are the main things busy parents look for when choosing the best place for their child to dance.

1. Class Schedules & Age Groups

Check that the schedule fits your child’s age and routine. The Dance Spot makes this easy with flexible weekly classes (we don’t run termly bookings, so your child can join any week).

Clacton Schedule (at Clacton County High School, J1 & J2 Studios):

  • Monday: 5:30–6:30 PM Hip Hop Choreography | 6:30–7:30 PM Freestyle Hip Hop | 7:30–8:30 PM Adults Hip Hop (Experienced only)

  • Tuesday: 5:30–6:30 PM Acro/Tricks | 6:30–7:30 PM Contemporary

Colchester Schedule (Acorn Hall, Harwich Road):

  • Wednesday: 7:30–8:30 PM Adult Beginner Hip Hop

No matter your child’s age, there’s a spot for them to get started.

2. Pricing & Payment Options

Parents want affordable options with clear choices. At The Dance Spot, we keep it simple:

  • Intro Pass – £28/month: 1 class per week, spot secured all year.

  • Step Up Access – £49/month: 2 classes per week, perfect balance of variety and growth.

  • Level Up Access – £68/month: 3 classes per week, ideal for faster progress.

  • All In Access – £89/month: 4 classes per week, our fullest programme.

  • PAYG Option – £8.99 per class: Flexible pay-as-you-go choice.

  • Private Training – £200/month: 1-1 coaching, available by application.

This way parents can choose a plan that fits both budget and goals.

3. Instructor Experience & Teaching Style

The teachers make all the difference. Parents should always ask about experience and approach.

Meet Brad

Founder of The Dance Spot, Brad began dancing at age 8 and became a World Champion and four-time British Champion by age 15. He’s performed in films (Philomena), music videos, and live shows. In class, Brad brings energy, fun, and confidence — creating a space where students enjoy the journey as much as the results.

Meet Lauren

Lauren has placed at the UDO World Championships in solos, duos, and teams. Her choreography has already won competitions for our students. She has also trained with respected groups like Unity UK and Grounded Movement UK. In class, Lauren brings focus and authenticity, inspiring dancers to grow while staying true to hip hop’s roots.

Your Power Team

Together, Brad and Lauren bring the perfect balance of fun and focus. Their world-class experience and supportive teaching style help every child feel safe, included, and motivated to reach their best.

4. Location & Convenience

Parents want a studio that’s easy to get to. The Dance Spot runs classes at:

  • Clacton County High School (J1 & J2 Studios)

  • Colchester – Acorn Hall, Harwich Road

Both locations are central and easy to access for local families.

5. Student Performance Opportunities

A great dance school gives students the chance to shine. At The Dance Spot, our dancers perform at:

  • Competitions like UDO, BDO, and SHC, Unified, SHC and many more!

  • Local events such as Christmas light switch-ons, performances locally, in-house performances for parents

  • Special showcases (including performing behind artist Faith Louise)

These experiences help students grow in confidence and give parents the joy of seeing their child thriving..

Why Hip Hop Is Great for Kids

Hip hop is more than just a hobby — it develops:

  • Coordination and fitness (through energetic movements)

  • Confidence (by learning to perform and freestyle)

  • Creativity (by exploring their own style)

That’s why so many families choose hip hop as an activity that supports both body and mind.

Acro/Tricks:

Acro is more than just flips and tricks — it develops:

  • Strength and flexibility (through balances, rolls, and tumbling)

  • Discipline (by practicing skills step by step safely)

  • Confidence (from achieving moves they once thought impossible)

That’s why acro is such a popular choice for kids who love movement and want to challenge themselves while having fun.

Contemporary:

Contemporary is more than just choreography — it develops:

  • Expression (by telling stories through movement)

  • Versatility (mixing elements of ballet, jazz, and urban, modern dance styles)

  • Confidence (in exploring new ways to move and perform)

That’s why contemporary is perfect for kids who want both creativity and structure in their dance journey.
