Bring The Dance Spot to you or your school

This helps us plan where to expand next, and you’ll be the first to know if a Colchester kids’ class launches.

  • Our main focus is Street Dance / Hip Hop. This means learning the moves you see in music videos, on TikTok, and at battles — taught properly by world-champion instructors with extensive experience in hip hop. Your child is in safe hands with teachers who know the style inside out. It’s energetic, creative, and all about confidence and expression.

We also run Contemporary, a style that blends ballet-inspired flow with modern movement. It’s expressive and emotional, helping children with control, balance, and creativity.

Our Acro/Tricks classes mix gymnastics-style skills (like cartwheels, flips, and balances) with dance. Using equipment such as our air track, students learn safely step by step while building strength and flexibility.

Every class is led by a specialist teacher in that style, so your child learns safely, makes steady progress, and gets the best guidance possible.

  • We don’t just stop at the basics. Our teachers have backgrounds across the wider street dance umbrella, so advanced dancers can explore many authentic styles.

    Here is what we offer:

Breaking — the original street dance. Think toprock footwork, freezes, and power moves — from foundation steps right through to the skills you see in battles.

Afro / Afrobeat dance — high-energy movement that connects to African music and culture. It’s rhythmic, powerful, and massively popular worldwide right now.

Hip hop party dances/foundations — the building blocks of hip hop. From old school grooves to new trends, we cover choreography and freestyle. Even if you think you “can’t freestyle,” you’ll quickly learn you just haven’t been shown how yet.

Locking — big characters, playful moves, points, and funky grooves. A style that makes performing fun while teaching rhythm and precision.

Popping — sharp hits and control mixed with creativity. Includes substyles like boogaloo, waving, tutting, finger-tutting, robot, glides and animation — all about making your body look unreal.

House dance — non-stop footwork and flow, danced to house music. It’s fast, sweaty, and one of the best workouts you’ll ever have.

Litefeet (NYC) — a bouncy, high-energy style from New York that’s full of fun, originality, and musical tricks.

Krump — raw, powerful, and emotional. It’s all about expression, energy, and letting everything out through dance.

Commercial foundations — the style you see on stage, in music videos, and on TV. It mixes performance skills with street technique so you’re ready for camera or stage.

Availability of these styles may vary each term. What stays consistent is our focus on authenticity and specialist teaching — if it’s on our schedule, you can be sure it’s taught by someone who truly knows the style.

  • Pay-as-you-go bookings can be moved within the system subject to availability if you give notice. Memberships reserve your weekly spot during term time and are spread over 11 months. Missed sessions aren’t refunded but we’ll offer like-for-like swaps where possible. See About for full terms.

  • Yes — all our classes are inclusive and SEN-friendly. Families often find us by searching SEN dance classes, autism-friendly dance or SEND hip hop, because our sessions are designed to be positive, structured and flexible for everyone.

We know every child is different, and you’ll always know your child best. Some children feel more comfortable in choreography classes (more structured and routine-based), while others thrive in freestyle sessions (more open and creative). Whilst we recognise some SEN children do thrive on pattern, others prefer more freedom — we don’t believe in one approach for all.

If your child has specific needs, please let us know before booking so we can be best prepared to give them the most positive experience possible. A quick chat helps us make sure they feel safe, confident and included from day one.

We also offer flexible payment methods, because every family’s situation is different — just like every child. That’s what makes our students so amazing.

Email hello@thedancespot.uk or WhatsApp 07497 108961 — we’ll happily advise on the best starting point.
